Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer has returned to training and is set to be between the posts in Wednesday's Champions League last 16 match at Italy's Lazio.

Neuer got a rest on Monday after missing all of last week's training with a knee problem before playing in Saturday's 3-0 Bundesliga defeat at Bayer Leverkusen.

Bayern want to rebound from the loss in Rome and get a good result for the return leg at home on March 5.

"We will prepare for Rome in order to show a reaction," coach Thomas Tuchel said in the run-up.

Tuchel is expected to field Joshua Kimmich and also Thomas Müller as starters after being criticised for using them only as substitutes in the second half on Saturday when league leaders Leverkusen were already two goals up.

Alphonso Davies, Konrad Laimer, Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman are injured or not fit to face Lazio, who are eighth in Serie A.
