Glendale's Bayshore mixed-use development is adding another big tenant: a firm that shut down its operation there more than two years ago.

Regus, a company that provides short-term office space and administrative support services to businesses, is leasing just over 18,000 square feet at 500 W. Silver Spring Drive, it was announced Thursday.

Regus is returning to that location after closing its Bayshore office in early 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic struck.

The reopened site will feature private offices, workstations and conference rooms and is projected to open in spring. It will be the company’s seventh location in Milwaukee County.

“As the momentum continues to build for hybrid work, the new Regus is a great addition to servethe North Shore communities and their business needs,” said Mary Mokwa, Bayshore senior generalmanager, in a statement.

“We are establishing a stronger and much-needed footprint in the region with this latest opening," said Mark Dixon, chief executive officer and founder of IWG, which operates Regus.

"Milwaukee County is growing in stature as a business hub and is a fantastic place for us to boost our expansion plans," Dixon said.

The Regus announcement comes after Bayshore announced this month that Omaha-based Main Street Theatres Inc. will open a six-screen ACX Cinema, as well as gaming, bowling and a Backlot Pizza + Kitchen restaurant, at the former iPic cinema, bowling alley and restaurant space. The ACX businesses are to open by summer.

Bayshore's redevelopment, led by Dallas-based Cypress Equities LLC, includes the 2020 conversion of a former Sports Authority to a Total Wine & More, the 2021 opening of a Target department store and supermarket in a former Boston Store, and construction of four mid-rise apartment buildings with more than 300 units that will be opening from December through next summer.
