Baz Lurhman to enter music business with RCA Records

Australian film director Baz Luhrmann

Australian filmmaker Baz Luhrmann is set to create his own record label with RCA Records.

Luhrmann, whose film credits include "The Great Gatsby" and "Moulin Rouge!," has teamed up with Sony Music’s RCA Records in a venture that will see the Bazmark Records label release music from his film, TV and theater projects, reported Billboard.com.

The label will also sign new artists and acquire rights to recordings.

Soundtracks from Luhrmann films have topped the charts over the last few years, including the song “Lady Marmalade” from “Moulin Rouge!” performed by Christina Aguilera, P!nk, Lil’ Kim and Mya, as well as the album for “The Great Gatsby.”
