BBC Breakfast star Carol Kirkwood has once again proved that animals and live TV don't always mix.

The weather presenter and former Strictly Come Dancing star was dragged to the floor by a dog during Tuesday’s (July 4) instalment of the early morning news programme.

Kirkwood was attempting to update viewers with her latest weather report during a live broadcast from Wimbledon, but the segment soon went awry.

Chatting via a video link to her BBC Breakfast colleagues Jon Kay and Sally Nugent, Kirkwood explained she was joined in her broadcast by one of the Wimbledon search dogs.

"Isn't he the most gorgeous boy?" Kirkwood remarked. "This is Ray, he is going to be five in August and he is one of the search dogs here.

"Whilst we have been waiting for you to come to us, he has been sat there like a gentleman just looking ahead at his trainer and just being perfect. I don't even know what the weather is today, I am so distracted."

After presenting her weather forecast, Kirkwood continued to praise Ray for his good behaviour, but it seems she spoke too soon.

"How well-behaved is he?" the meteorologist commented. "He has hardly moved apart from having his tummy rubbed."

However, as something away from the camera caught Ray’s eye, the dog swiftly raced out of shot dragging Carol along with him.

As Kirkwood was pulled along the floor on her hands and knees, Nugent and Kay couldn’t help but laugh as they pointed out this isn’t the first time this has happened to the weather presenter.

"Oh no, oh Carol. Kirkwood down," Nugent said. "It has happened again. Is she okay? Are you okay? Are you alright?"

"Yes!" Kirkwood exclaimed, in a fit of giggles. "I can't believe this has happened again. Chelsea Flower Show all over again."

Kirkwood previously had trouble presenting alongside a dog back in 2021 when she was similarly swept off her feet mid-broadcast.

BBC Breakfast airs daily from 6am on BBC One.
