BBC Failings Contributed to Diana's Paranoia, Says Prince William

The UK’s Prince William said on May 20 that failings by the BBC in relation to an interview his mother, the late Diana, Princess of Wales, gave to journalist Martin Bashir in 1995 contributed significantly to the “fear, paranoia, and isolation.”

William was responding to the publication of a report by a retired British judge, Lord Dyson, that said Bashir used deception to obtain the interview and that a subsequent BBC investigation into how the interview was obtained was inadequate.

William accused the BBC of a cover-up and said it displayed “woeful incompetence” in its investigation of the programme.
