BCSC board approve Cassidy as library trustee appointment

Oct. 31—BATESVILLE — The Batesville Community School Corporation's Board of Education continues to work on next year's budget and other pressing items of business.

At its most recent meeting, the board received preliminary approval of their budget by the Department of Local Government Finance.

BCSC Superintendent Paul Ketcham asked the board to approve Batesville Intermediate School Principal Dana Cassidy as the board's chosen appointment for the Batesville Memorial Public Library Trustee. The school has one appointment.

"When I first got here, 8 years ago, I didn't understand why the school appointed a board member," Superintendent Ketcham said. "But Ms. Cassidy makes a lot of sense: literacy, elementary education, all of those things we want to occur there [at the library], so Miss Cassidy is excited about serving this role potentially."

Cassidy will serve a four-year term and replaces Anne Amhrein. This is pending the approval of the Batesville Memorial Public Library's board.

The board also approved an overnight field trip to Orlando March 7 to 11, 2024, for the Batesville High School Dance Team as well as the 8th grade annual field trip to Washington, DC.
