BCSO investigating murder-suicide on River Rd.

BURKE COUNTY, Ga. (WJBF) – The Burke County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating a murder-suicide.

Authorities say it happened on Sunday, February 4th at 1:45 P.M.

Deputies, along with members of the Burke County EMA, say they responded to the 4700 block of River Road (in the Shade RV Park) in reference to a suspicious incident.

According to deputies, they were met with the complainant, who advised that they had arrived at the park to check on their family members, and when they opened the door, they found that it appeared both people inside were deceased.

Deputies say that when they entered the RV, they discovered a male and a female in the bathroom area of the RV with apparent gunshot injuries.

According to the Burke County EMA and the Coroner’s office, the male body was identified as William Proveaux, 50, and the female body was identified as Cynthia Smith, 51.

Authorities say they both lived in the RV.
