🌱 Beach Blvd Construction + The Circuit Pilot Program Continues

Morning, Huntington Beach, and happy National Tempura Day! Let's get you started this Friday with everything you need to know going on today in town.

Traveling on Beach Boulevard will be more challenging this month. Also, The Circuit’s pilot program will go on for a couple more months. Finally, an HB man has been arrested for pistol-whipping a person (among other things).

First, today's weather:

Dense fog in the morning. High: 60 Low: 50.

Here are the top five stories today in Huntington Beach:

  1. If you’re traveling north on Beach Boulevard between Center Avenue and the I-405 off-ramp, add some time for anticipated lane reductions. Beginning Monday and likely to last until January 28, crews will be out constructing “curbs and gutters along northbound Beach Boulevard." (I-405 Improvement)

  2. The City heard you! The Circuit’s pilot program has been extended up to and including March. It’s FREE, convenient, and takes you along Main Street, the Pier, and a variety of other destinations. And, some merchants, such as the Plants By Yours Truly, offer you great deals! “Come in a circuit and get 10% off your purchase!” (@cityofhb)

  3. A 55-year-old HB man was arrested by U.S. Marshals. He allegedly “pistol-whipped then fired a gun at his fleeing victim” near the 23500 block of Pennsylvania Avenue. The suspect now faces charges that include “attempted murder, shooting at an inhabited dwelling, assault with a firearm, and residential burglary with a person present.” (Patch)

  4. The Omicron variant is creating problems in the OC. We learned Thursday that nine hospitals “set up surge tents to increase capacity” and “ambulances are waiting longer to offload patients into emergency rooms.” An OC deputy health officer noted that “hospitals are getting full.” “If you have mild symptoms, please consider first a virtual appointment with your healthcare provider to not overwhelm the ERs even more.” (KTLA)

  5. There will be several Pfizer vaccine clinics. The El Camino Park Community Building welcomes residents on Saturday between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. The Oak View Boys & Girls Club opens on January 29 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for parents bringing children between the ages of 5 and 11 needing the first dose only!
