Can you bear to be apart from your stuffed animal? If so, this adventure is for you

There are a couple of fun events for Girl Scouts in the southern part of our readership area coming up. Deadline for one has already passed, but perhaps there are still some open spots.

These events are being sponsored by Girl Scouts of Central Texas but are open to any Girl Scout.

∎ The first is designed for Scouts through third grade: A “Fur-Ever Friends Stuffed Animal Sleepover.”

On Oct. 27, between 6 and 7:30 p.m., a stuffed animal belonging to the Scout can be turned in at the San Angelo service center. It will be registered and tagged to ensure it gets back to its owner. Then it embarks on a tour of Girl Scout activities across the council.

Photos and videos of the fun your stuffed animal has will be shared. It will return to San Angelo in time for a big dress-up party at the service center on Nov. 11.

Scouts and their parents are urged to think carefully about which stuffed animal to send on the adventure; can the Scout “bear” being apart from a favorite companion for two weeks?

Deadline for registration is Thursday. Register at customercare@gsctx.org. Kayla Robinson, kaylar@gsctx.org, can provide more information.

∎ For Girl Scouts of all ages, there’s the “Field Day! Fun Day!” from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 29 at Kirby Community Park in San Angelo. The Angelo State University Rambelles rugby team will be on site to show girls a fun day of adventures.Activities include an obstacle course, tie-dyeing T-shirts, visiting woman business owners, a STEM experience, bounce house and the playground.

Appropriate adult supervision is required; this is not a drop off-and-go event. There will be activities of interest to adults as well, besides the pleasure of seeing your daughter’s (granddaughter? Niece?) interest piqued by the variety of opportunities.

Cost is $15 per Scout; no charge for accompanying adults. Registration deadline has passed, so contact Sara Dube, sarad@gsctx.org, for availability.
