Bears sign WRs Justin Hardy and Jon’Vea Johnson, waive two players

The Chicago Bears reported for training camp on Tuesday, and the team made some roster moves ahead of Wednesday’s first practice.

The Bears signed a pair of wide receivers in Justin Hardy, as previously reported, and Jon’Vea Johnson. Chicago waived cornerback Rojersterman Farris and wide receiver Khalil McClain to make room on the 90-man roster.

Heading into training camp, head coach Matt Nagy is confident about the depth they have at wide receiver, which will be an intriguing position battle to watch. Aside from Allen Robinson and Darnell Mooney, no one is guaranteed a roster spot, which leaves four wide open.

Perhaps someone like Hardy, who has experience returning both punts and kickoffs, could find a way to earn a roster spot with a strong camp and preseason.

The Bears also made the signing of tight end Jesse James official on Tuesday.
