Beaufort Academy football rallies, plus Hilton Head Island, Bluffton roll in openers

Beaufort Academy 27, Pinewood Prep 23: The Eagles rallied from a 16-7 first-half deficit to improve to 2-0 on the season. Beaufort Academy has wins over SCISA 4A Trinity Collegiate and 3A Pinewood Prep. Davonte Green had both of Beaufort Academy’s touchdowns in the second half, one on an interception return and the other on a 55-yard run to put the Eagles up 27-23.
Bethesda Academy, Ga. 50, Hilton Head Prep 7
Bluffton 41, Beach, Ga. 6: The Bobcats were impressive in defeating Beach for the second year to open the season.
Cane Bay 29, Beaufort 10: Cane Bay scored 19 points in the fourth quarter to defeat the defending Class 3A champions. Quaterback Samari Bonds had the Eagles’ lone touchdown with a run in the first quarter.
Hilton Head Island 39, Battery Creek 6: Quarterback Jackson Bibee threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns in the Seahawks’ season-opening win. Jake Huggins had two of the TD catches and Javarian Hamilton had one. HHI also had two defensive touchdowns. It was Hilton Head’s 13th straight win over Battery Creek.
John Paul II 28, Thomas Heyward Academy 21: Christian Tilton had four touchdowns, including an 80-yard run in the fourth quarter to help the Warriors past the Rebels.
Ridgeland-Hardeeville 27, St. John’s 12: The Jaguars moved to 1-0 by winning their first opener since 2017.
Savannah Christian (Ga.) 49, Hilton Head Christian Academy 0: Zo Smalls rushed for four touchdowns and South Carolina commit David Bucey had two TD catches for Savannah Christian.
