Beautiful Feet Dance Studio to perform inaugural 'Nutcracker' at end of month
PETOSKEY — The Christmas season will soon arrive, bringing with it holiday carols, gift giving and renditions of the "The Nutcracker."
Beautiful Feet Dance Studio has already been preparing and rehearsing for their performance of the ballet — the first ever for the studio.
"This is our debut performance of 'The Nutcracker' and our very first time doing this," said studio owner and teacher Amanda Moffett.
"We have been preparing since July and it's been really exciting as this is something new to our girls. It's a really special thing as the ballet is so well known and such a beautiful Christmas tradition," she said.
Moffett, who grew up performing "The Nutcracker" with the Crooked Tree Arts Center's ballet program, knows the importance of the ballet for her students and for them to be able to be a part of a performance opportunity like this.
"It's always been a part of my life and I watched the movies just like every other girl out there," she said. "The girls are really looking forward to getting another performance in as well and to be bringing this magical land and performance to the community."
The upcoming show will feature most of the studio's dancers ranging in age from 2 years old up through 21.
The show will also feature excerpts from the entirety of "The Nutcracker" and will have two performances, with one at 1 p.m. and the second at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 28 at the Great Lakes Center for the Arts in Bay Harbor.
Moffett is looking forward to not only being able to perform the ballet but to also give her students the opportunity to dance on a larger stage.
"It's a very esteemed venue and they have been amazing to work with," she said. "We of course want to expose our dancers to different venues and give them opportunities to perform. I'm so excited now to be able to do this and start this tradition and give these girls some great memories."
