Beauty businesses relieved at being able to offer facials and eyebrow threading again
Beauty businesses will soon be able to finally start offering all treatments for the first time since the Covid-19 lockdown started.
The industry shut sites in March and since mid July beauty salons, nail bars, and massage studios in England have been allowed to open with social distancing measures in place. However, front of the face services were not allowed, such as eyebrow threading.
But the government has now said firms will be able to offer all close contact services, including eyelash treatments and facials, from August 15 under new guidance.
Hilary Hall, chief executive of the National Hair & Beauty Federation, said: “This is fantastic news for thousands of people in the beauty industry who have, up until now, been unsure about the future of their businesses.”
Hall added: “We have been working tirelessly with other industry organisations to get to this point, which has been hugely delayed compared to other sectors. We strongly urge everyone working in close contact services to ensure they operate in a safe and secure way so that the industry doesn’t face any more closures.”
Fiona McIntosh is the co-founder of beauty firm blow LTD, which has two branches in the capital and an app that allows customers to book at-home services from 300 freelancers in London.
McIntosh said: "It has been a long wait so we are all relieved that our dedicated beauty professionals, who deliver close contact face treatments at home, can now get back to doing the job they love."
