Beauty Fans Aren’t Happy With bareMinerals’ Pale Skin Shades

First, it was the ‘nude’ underwear that only caters for pale skin tones. And now, bareMinerals has released a 16-shade foundation that doesn’t include shades for darker skin.

The cosmetics brand Sephora has come under fire on Instagram after posting about its Complexion Rescue foundation yesterday. Featuring an armed daubed with all of its 16 shades, its quite evident the colours only cater for lighter women.

Instagram users were quick to express their distaste. One user Dianekenzee said that there is ‘literally only one shade for dark skinned women’, while westcoastaesthetic pointed out ‘the darkest colour they have is the one that matched the black girl, and she is not representative of all POC [people of colour] her colour and darker.’

Having received more than 81,000 likes, it was captioned: ‘You’re invited to this arm party! @bareMinerals Complexion Rescue comes in 16 true-to-you shades’ with a few emojis thrown into the mix too.

But almost 300 comments later, reactions have been of disappointment more often than pleasure.
