Update 9 a.m. May 19: Beaver County elections officials finished their count of 8,553 mail-in ballots Wednesday evening. Voter turnout stood at around 32%. All results are unofficial until certified by the Board of Elections.

Beaver County elections staff finished counting 27,395 ballots cast at the polls around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday with all 129 precincts reporting. Officials won’t start counting mail-in ballots until 9 a.m. Wednesday due to inadequate staffing, said Elections Director Colin Sisk. He expects all mail-in votes to be counted by Wednesday evening.

Voter turnout before Beaver County’s Wednesday count of mail-in ballots stood at about 24% of the county’s 112,464 registered voters.

Although an error by a printing company will delay the count of thousands of mail-in ballots in Lancaster County, Sisk said he doesn’t anticipate any issues with Beaver County’s count – the county doesn’t use the same vendor as Lancaster, he said.
