BEAVER — The Beaver County Library System could have a new library van in the near future.

County commissioners approved a grant agreement between the Beaver County Library System and the Pennsylvania Department of Education, which would allow the library system to apply for a $48,996 grant to receive a new van.

Library System Director Jodi Oliver said their current van, which has been around since the system was formed, has over 100,000 miles on it now.

She said the van is used for resource sharing between all member libraries and organizations associated with the system, such as the Community College of Beaver County (CCBC).

Oliver said members are able to look at the catalogs of every member library and can request books from one library, and be delivered to their home library.

She said the van goes between the different libraries four times a week, getting and returning books from the different libraries, and said the program has been a success, especially with members who may not have easy access to transportation between the different libraries.
