District Attorney David Lozier is hosting the public safety presentation, which is titled "Prepare, Prevent and Respond," at Penn State-Beaver on Oct. 20. Community members can choose from two information sessions, at either 2 p.m. or 6 p.m., that will take place in the Student Union Building's auditorium on campus.

Throughout the presentation, the following speakers will be featured:

  • Rob Ambrosini, UPMC/FBI Behavioral Specialist

  • Det. Pat Young, Beaver County ESU

  • Chief John Deluca, Ambridge PD

  • Chief Eric Hermick, Chippewa PD

  • Members of the Pennsylvania State Police Risk and Vulnerability Assessment Team

According to the FBI's Active Shooter Report for 2021, the majority of recorded active shooter situations last year took place inside of businesses and "areas of commerce." Out of the 61 recorded shootings, 32 incidents were in businesses and the environments open to pedestrian traffic in 28 of those cases.

One recorded shooting also took place at a house of worship last year, but no casualties were recorded. Two shootings also took place in schools, which resulted in four deaths and 10 wounded occupants of the school.
