ECONOMY – Beaver County is currently looking for lifeguards to work during the upcoming season at the pool at Old Economy Park.

Tony Caltury, the director of recreation and tourism in the county, said in years past the park would first open during Memorial Day weekend, and would only be open the following weekend, to have the Ambridge Area School District finish up their school year before fully opening seven days a week afterward.

However, he said the county is struggling to get lifeguards, as they only have four, and said the county would need at least eight to open up the full seven days.

He said if the county doesn’t get the minimum safe amount of lifeguards, officials would have to consider only opening the pool during select days of the week, such as on weekends only.

Those interested in applying can submit an application, which can be found on the Bradys Run Ice Arena - Beaver County Recreation Dept. Facebook page, to the Beaver County Courthouse at 810 Third St., Beaver, PA, 15009. The current rate is $10 an hour.

The department can be reached at 724-770-4413 or at hr@beavercountypa.gov.
