Both children involved in the crash at Carter Caves State Resort Park, a 4-year-old and 11-year-old, were identified Tuesday as students in the Beavercreek City Schools district, a district spokesperson said in a statement to News Center 7.

Killed in the crash were Jitu Galani, 41, Nitu Galani, 39, and their 4-year-old child in Carter County, Kentucky June 18. A Kentucky State Police crash investigation found the SUV Jitu was driving became stuck and later rolled down a culvert, and landed on its top. An 11-year-old boy, the son of the Galani’s, survived the crash.

The 4-year-old child was identified as a student at the Beavercreek Preschool while the 11-year-old was identified as a fourth grader at Shaw Elementary.

“This is a challenging time for many in the Beavercreek community. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the Galani family,” Beavercreek Assistant Superintendent Bobbie Fiori said in an emailed statement.

Staff members at both schools were notified Tuesday of the news and a social worker has been in contact with family members to offer support to the 11-year-old and his family, the district spokesperson said.

“In unfortunate situations like these, the district has counselors and support staff available to assist our students, staff, and the community in any way we can,” the district spokesperson added in the district’s statement.
