When it comes to age or body shamers, they should very well know by now that singer Bebe Rexha has no time for them. The "Meant to Be" performer recently called out an unnamed "male executive" who apparently had a problem with Rexha's "brand" and how she portrays herself on social media. Namely, he allegedly told her that she's "getting too old" to be posting sexy pics on Instagram.
First of all, she is TWENTY NINE years old. But regardless of her age, Rexha can post whatever the heck she wants on her Instagram because, you know, it's HER Instagram. So, yeah, she let this man—and the world—know that she will not be age shamed, and she will not change who she is based on the opinions of other people.
In a stunning black-and-white Instagram post, Rexha called out the age shamer and put him in his place. "I’m fed up with being put in a box. I make my own rules," she wrote in the caption. "I’m tired of women getting labeled as 'hags' when they get old and guys get labeled as sexy with age."
Rexha continued by saying that, as she approaches her 30th birthday this August, she's "not running away from it."
"I’m not gonna lie about my age or sing songs that I feel will sell better because they sound “younger,” she wrote in the caption. "I’m gonna celebrate my age because you know what, I’m wiser, I’m stronger and TRUST ME I’m a much better lover than I was 10 years ago."
RT, forever and ever. Rexha received a flood of messages supporting her stance on age shaming. Taylor Swift commented "DRAG THEM. 29 YEAR OLDS UNITE. 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗," and Rita Ora wrote "My sexy songwriting 👑 You are beautiful, getting sexier with age and your talent SINGS for itself. Keep making those rules 💞."
Other comments celebrated aging. "You are ALL what we should be at 30!!!! Strong ! Fierce! And beautiful 🙌🏼✨💎🙏," one follower wrote, while another said "There’s No age on greatness. shine lil mama." We couldn't agree more.
Rexha also shared the same black-and-white photo that she posted to her Instagram to Twitter, addressing it to the “music executive who said I am too old to be sexy.” In a follow-up tweet, Rexha wrote that “there’s no age that you can’t be sexy" and said she's "not scared to speak out," especially if it’s her truth.
