Mar. 24—LUCERNE — Jarod Beck of Lucerne has earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.

He earned the award following a Board of Review on March 10 and after completing 34 merit badges, along with a service project that focused on 41 hours of collecting food for the Salvation Army.

Beck advanced through all ranks of Scouting as a member of Troop 2 of the Logansport Main Street United Methodist Church. Troop 2 has been making a difference in the community for 108 years.

Beck held the office of assistant patrol leader from 2017 through 2019.

The Eagle Scout rank carries a special significance and is a performance-based achievement with high standards, according to the Boy Scouts of America, Sagamore Council. Fewer than 5 percent of all Scouts achieve the rank of Eagle, which represents more than 2.5 million Scouts who have earned the rank since 1912.

Beck is the son of Janet Beck of Lucerne.
