Beckley Area Foundation announces donation event for Bill Withers statue
BECKLEY, WV (WVNS) — As the crystal raindrops fall, see the beauty of the new Bill Withers memorial statue the Beckley Area Foundation is trying to implement in Beckley.

A long overdue recognition is finally getting implemented as the Beckley Area Foundation with the Bill Withers Memorial Foundation, the Withers Family, the Beckley-Raleigh County Chamber of Commerce announced a plan for a Bill Withers memorial statue to be erected at the soon to be named “Bill Withers Plaza” in downtown Beckley. The Grammy winning, hall-of-fame singer/songwriter is one of the greatest talents to come from Beckley and many have decided it’s time we recognize greatness.
The total for the statue comes to a hefty approximate value of $171,000 made in three installments of $57,000. The statue was sculpted in clay by Pastor Frederick Hightower and now awaits a bronze casting process. The Beckley Area Foundation has created donation incentives to help gather funds from the Beckley community to install this wonderful memorial.
The Beckley Area Foundation created a donation event with incentive levels ranging from the “Friend” level at $10 to the “Double Platinum Record” level at a $10,000 donation or more. Each level includes perks and benefits specially designed to thank the donator with various ways of gratitude including being named at the plaque that will be located on the memorial statue.
