A new business has the opportunity to replace an old favorite in downtown Augusta.

The former Bee’s Knees location is available for lease following the popular eatery’s closure on Nov. 20. It was announced Thursday by the property’s realtor, the Finem Group at Meybohm Commercial.

Eric Kinlaw opened Bee's Knees in 2002. It was a hotspot for tapas, cocktails and hanging out. Then in 2021, Kinlaw decided to realign the business. He turned the model upside down and made it into a trendy coffee shop and curio that sold local merchants' products.

"The Bee's Knees helped pioneer modern dining in downtown Augusta," said Meybohm Commercial Advisor and Vice President John Eckley. "Over the years, this warm, centrally-located space, has been a gathering place for many seeking a unique culinary experience in a great atmosphere. Out of appreciation for all this restaurant has meant to myself and so many, my hope is to see a new visionary restaurant take up the reigns."

The property is being leased at a rate of $24 per square foot annually and measures 3,277 square feet. It offers two serving areas along with a kitchen and a wet bar. It’s located across the street from Taco Cat, Pho-Ramen'L, and shares the building with Manny's Off Broad Sports Bar (formerly, the Hive).

Kinlaw continues to own the Bee's Knees property and the Manny's property.
