Bee Loved Kitchen, a vegan meal-prep and catering service, is the first retailer to announce its location in the Steel District in downtown Sioux Falls.

Owner Emily Wilson started Bee Loved in 2019 with cooking classes and as a private in-home chef. After COVID-19 hit, she switched to online food delivery, and she also sells meals at the Sioux Falls Co-Op and Pomegranate Market.

Now, Wilson is looking forward to finally having a physical store front in the new development.

"I'm most excited about being able to connect to people again and finding community at the Steel District," Wilson said. "That's what's missing right now with our current business model."

The new store, the Bee Loved Kitchen-Healing Food Cafe, will be near the Steel District parking garage near Falls Park West. It will be 1,860 square feet, offering enough room for indoor dining and possible workout classes.

"I thought it would be fun to partner with local gyms and have them come and teach yoga or dance classes, or to have live music," Wilson said. "I want to give people an experience that's more than just food."

She said she will also have some sidewalk seating, too, and the plan is to once again offer cooking classes.

Wilson has two other employees who work in the kitchen and another who does social media marketing.

The menu includes vegan juices, smoothies and raw entrees like salads, wraps and stews. Wilson is also looking at expanding the menu with cooked food and pastries with the new cafe.

Bee Loved Kitchen will open its doors sometime next year with other tenants in the nine-story mixed-use building once its complete.

"I've always been drawn to downtowns, so it just made sense for the Cafe," Wilson said. "It already felt like home to be on the new development, and I'm very excited to be a part of it."
