A fast casual family restaurant opens in Lebanon on Friday and is giving away free cheese fries for a year to its first customers.

Beef-A-Roo will have its grand opening at 1360 West State Road 32.

It’s the first Indiana location and 13th overall for the Rockford, Illinois-based brand, which Mashed.com in 2022 named Best Regional Fast-Food Chain in Illinois.

Another nine stores are in the works.

With its Western theme, Beef-A-Roo, is steeped in Americana, serving up classic roast beef sandwiches, smashed burgers, soups, salads, flavor-mixed milkshakes and its signature seasoned cheese fries.

The restaurant makes many of its menu items from scratch each day.

Each item on the extensive menu is customizable.

“The whole menu creates a million possibilities,” Victor Berrios, general manager of the Lebanon location, said in a released statement. “Beef-A-Roo’s superpower, and what makes us so different, is our willingness to invite guests to ‘mashup’ the menu, and do it with a smile.”

Dave Debruler and Jean Vitale founded the company in 1967 and Dallas-based private equity firm U.S. Assets Inc. bought Beef-A-Roo in 2019. Next Brands and Development acquired the franchising rights to Beef-A-Roo in 2021.

The corporate-owned Lebanon restaurant will seat about 90 diners.

The company expects to follow with more Indiana locations, a Beef-A-Roo spokesman said.

The first 100 guests at the Lebanon store on Friday will receive Golden Tickets for a year of Beef-A-Roo cheese fries orders.

The restaurant will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
