GALESBURG — Beer and John Deere has a nice ring to it, and now two of the giants in the brewing and agricultural machinery industries are teaming to benefit farmers.

Busch Light is back to celebrate American Farmers with its limited-edition “For the Farmers” graphics, in partnership with an iconic brand — John Deere. Two legendary brands rooted in America’s Heartland are coming together in support of Farm Rescue, a non-for-profit organization with a mission to help family farmers recover from crisis.

For every case purchased, Busch Light will donate a dollar to Farm Rescue, up to $100,000, and John Deere will match Busch Light’s donation. These unique graphics, available in 30-pack can packages, are available for a limited time as of Monday, May 9.

"With Busch Light using corn as part of its production process, they've always been close to farmers," said Adam Vitale, president of Galesburg-based G&M Distributors. "A few years ago they used the green and yellow colors on the cans of Busch Light, and now they've forged a relationship with John Deere."

For a limited time, consumers will see John Deere equipment featured on cans of Busch Light beer. Vitale said the cans are now available for a limited time at local retailers, bars and restaurants that sell Busch Light. He added the product will only be distributed in the Midwest.

"It will be interesting to see how they are received," Vitale said. "Especially with our proximity to John Deere's world headquarters in the Quad Cities.

"This will be a fun one and is so specifically local because agriculture is such a big part of our community."

The mission of Farm Rescue is to help family farms and ranches bridge crises so they have an opportunity to continue viable operations. Farm Rescue provides planting, haying, harvesting and livestock feeding assistance to farm and ranch families that have experienced a major injury, illness or natural disaster.

Vitale thinks the Busch Light John Deere cans could be a keepsake.

"I think is an opportunity for it to turn into a collectible," he said. "Anytime there's a limited edition can, there are groups of people who will collect them.

"And what's also unique to this is that it's only available in the Midwest."
