Beer pick of the week: Snowstorm 2022 from August Schell's Brewing in New Ulm

Much like snowflakes, there are no two Snowstorm beers alike. That is Shell’s motto when it comes to Snowstorm. Every year they feature a different style of beer for their Snowstorm seasonal beer. This year they are featuring a Mahogany Lager.

Snowstorm 2022 is a malt-driven lager with a deep mahogany color with a tan creamy head. Thick caramel notes and mahogany are in the aroma along with light toasted malt and spicy aromatics. The flavor starts off with a sweet bready character fallowed by a toasted toffee flavor from Munich Malts. There also is an oat flavor in the beer that smooths out the toastiness and amplifies the rich Munich Malt. Hop spiciness is used just enough to enhance the malty character. The beer is smooth and creamy with a crisp finish. This Holiday season sit down and relax and get into the joyous spirit with a Schell’s Snowstorm.
