It's beginning to feel a lot like ... December? Tickets for Halloween 'Blaze,' 'Nutcracker' on sale now

We wouldn't blame you for longing for the cool days of fall, or even the brisk chill of an early December evening during August's brutal heat wave.

Turns out, your thoughts should turn to the upcoming seasons, especially if you want to snag tickets to some highly coveted seasonal events. Tickets for these events are on sale now, or will be soon:

The Great Jack O'Lantern Blaze

Dates: Sept. 16-18; Sept. 22-25; Sept. 28-Oct. 31; Nov. 2-6; Nov. 9-13; and Nov. 18-20.

What is it? The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze will return to Van Cortlandt Manor in Croton-on-Hudson for its 18th year. This outdoor event is a display of thousands of carved pumpkins arrayed in various tableau ranging from the Statue of Liberty to a pumpkin planetarium. New displays this year at Blaze: Hudson Valley include an animated “Jack” Smith working in his shop and a hive of glowing bees.

When do tickets go on sale? Tickets are on sale now. Timed entry tickets are sold online only. Online tickets start at $32 for adults and $24 for children 3-17, and are free for children 2 and under. Purchase at hudsonvalley.org. Tickets are also on sale for "Irving's Legend," and "Home of the Legend," Halloween events which take place at Sunnyside, the home of author Washington Irving. Check site for dates, prices and reservations.

The Nutcracker

Dates: Dec. 10, 11

What is it: Following a two year absence due to Covid, New Paltz Ballet Theatre will return for its 23rd season to present this classic holiday event featuring dancers from the New York City Ballet. Peter and Lisa Naumann, co-directors of the NPBT, have brought many fine regional artists together to create this beautiful production. Come along with Marie as she dreams of a fierce battle between giant mice and toy soldiers followed by a magical journey through the Land of Snow to the Kingdom of Sweets.

Performances: 2 p.m., 7:30 p.m. Dec. 10; 3 p.m. Dec 11. Snow date is 7 p.m. Dec. 12,

When are tickets on sale: On sale now for members; Aug. 12 at 11 a.m. for the general public. Tickets are $36 adult;  $30 students. The Nutcracker

Dates: Dec. 18, shows at 3 p.m., 6 p.m.

What is it: From clockwork imps to a luminous owl that flies above the audience and mice dressed in polka dots, this holiday ballet, danced to Tchaikovsky's beloved score, returns to the Tarrytown Music Hall.

When are tickets on sale: Beginning Aug. 12.

The Radio City Christmas Spectacular

Dates: Nov. 18 to Jan. 2, 2023.

What is it: This annual event, held at New York City's Radio City Music Hall, is a 90-minute holiday show which features the Radio City Rockettes.

When are tickets on sale? Tickets are available now. Tickets, starting at $49, are available at rockettes.com or the Ticketmaster box office at Radio City Music Hall.
