Behati Prinsloo Posts Rare Photo With Her & Adam Levine’s Daughters for an Important Reason

They get it from their mama! Social activism, that is. A rare photo of Behati Prinsloo and Adam Levine’s daughters made its way to Instagram on Saturday, and it’s pretty clear the little girls have a fierce role model in their model mama. Although Prinsloo and Levine typically keep their kids out of the social media spotlight, she made an exception to raise awareness for an important issue.

In the selfie, Prinsloo, 31, can be seen lounging casually on the couch with her and Levine’s youngest daughter, Gio, sitting on her lap. To one side, daughter Dusty sits, one hand resting beside a hot pink bag. At first glance, it seems like a sweet candid moment between a mother and her daughters. And it is — but the snapshot is significant for another reason, too. The group photo shows Prinsloo wearing a “Mother Lover” shirt, with a second photo showing the shirt laid out beside two child-sized shirts featuring the same logo.

“Helping out some friends spreading important awareness,” Prinsloo explained, elaborating, “I’m a MOTHER LOVER. Because the US is the only country in the developed world with a rising maternal mortality rate and just because Women’s rights are human rights, I am joining @thefrankiesshop and @the_mother_lovers in raising awareness of America’s maternal health crisis, and supporting the upcoming documentary @bornfreefilm.”

Prinsloo wrapped up the post by encouraging others to show their support by purchasing one of the limited-edition hand tie-dyed t-shirts.

Sounds like a pretty solid reason to give a rare glimpse into her life as a mother, right? Prinsloo and Levine are understandably selective about what they share of their girls with the world, but Prinsloo never seems to shy away from posts that might empower other mothers. In August, she jumped on fellow model Kate Upton’s #sharestrong movement meant to help women embrace strength in their struggles.

“Here’s to the sleepless nights, bleeding nipples, crying, laughing, the highest of highs and the lowest of lows and everything in between,” Prinsloo captioned a photo of herself with the girls quite literally clinging to her. “I won’t change a single thing. Being mom to Dusty and Gio keeps me strong, motivated and empowered.”
