A Behind-the-Scenes Look at How This Gorge Marilyn Monroe Wallpaper Is Made

From Cosmopolitan

You know when you’re in the mood for a refresh? That's how we've been feeling here at Cosmo lately. As much as we love our New York City office (hello, Central Park views!), it can feel a bit, well, corporate. White walls, fluorescent lights, cubicles...you know the drill. We were itching for a space that better suited our vibe. Bold, bright, feminine—maybe a leopard print here or there. So we decided to give our office a total makeover. And now I’m writing this surrounded by gorgeous pieces of art, cozy furniture, neon signs, and the prettiest walls you}ve ever seen.

See that eye candy right there? No, not the art (although it’s super nice too!). That swirly, marbly design that looks good enough to eat, my friend, is custom-made wallpaper from Flavor Paper, a Brooklyn-based company that makes screen-printed and digitally-printed g-o-r-g-e-o-u-s wallpaper.

Jess Pels, Cosmo’s editor in chief, loved the Mars design for her office (pictured above) and we thought the one and only Marilyn Monroe should decorate the walls of one of our meeting rooms. If anyone can help you with writer’s block, it’s Marilyn, no? Flavor Paper gave Andy Warhol’s iconic design a modern upgrade with a gold and white palette, and the space is 1,000,000% transformed.

And get this—the wallpaper is screen-printed by hand. That means every piece is unique, and requires a whole lot of time and effort. Curious to see how exactly they do it? Watch the video above to get a bird’s-eye view of the mesmerizing process.
