Behr released its 2020 Color Trends Palette just a few months ago, and now the paint brand has identified the color you can expect to see everywhere next year. Behr's 2020 Paint Color of the Year is Back to Nature S340-4, a versatile green shade that works beautifully in both residential and commercial spaces. The subdued paint hue, which is also part of the brand's 2020 Color Trends Palette, was unveiled during a special media presentation in Napa Valley, California, in partnership with The Home Depot.

Last year, Behr chose a warm blue, Blueprint, as its 2019 Color of the Year, but the paint retailer turned to nature for inspiration this time around. It's no secret that nature is known to relieve stress, boost creativity, and promote tranquility, so it's only fitting that Behr would settle on this calming shade of green for 2020. "Green is nature's favorite color," says Erika Woelfel, vice president of color and creative services at Behr, of the brand's 2020 Color of the Year. "It's kind of like nature's neutral."

Curious about how to make it work for your home? Woelfel says it doesn't get more versatile than Back to Nature, which can even be paired with shades of pink, red, or orange for a stylish look. Back to Nature can add personality to a small space and even make it feel larger. It's also ideal for an accent wall, mantel, or a doorway. And if you're feeling crafty, use the shade to revamp furniture, cabinets, paneling, or window frames. Woelfel even likes to see this particular green in a basement, attic, or laundry room. "There are infinite ways to layer it," Woelfel says. "It's a little bit neutral, and it's on the warmer side but still has energy to it."

Sarah Fishburne, Design and Trend Director at Home Depot, agrees. "Some greens tend to be too formal or too modern," says Fishburne. "This green has enough energy and a light enough value to take it from the front door all the way throughout an entire home."
