Belgian lawmakers cut hair in support of Iranian women

STORY: Darya Safai, an Iranian-born member of Belgium's parliament, took a scissors to her hair on Thursday (October 6) - to applause from other lawmakers - after asking the country's foreign minister about Belgium's response to a crackdown on widespread protests inside Iran.

Following Safai's example, foreign minister Hadja Lahbib snipped off a lock of her hair.

A third lawmaker, Goedele Liekens, also cut her hair.
