Belk replaces CEO after less than a year on the job

Belk CEO Nir Patel is leaving the company after less than a year leading the department store chain, the company announced May 13.

President Don Hendricks was named interim CEO effective May 16. The Belk statement only said Patel was leaving to pursue other interests.

Hendricks was instrumental in leading the company through the continued unpredictability of the Covid-19 pandemic and spearheaded the company’s initiatives to enhance its omnichannel capabilities, the company statement said.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to lead the talented team at Belk,” Hendricks said in the statement. “I’m proud of our continued work to advance the business in numerous ways, while still keeping the wellbeing of our customers, associates and communities as a top priority.”
