May 15—KILLDEER, N.D. — Bell Energy will host their second annual community

at the High Plains Community Center from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. Rebecca Dennison, an account manager with Bell, said there will be oodles of fun for the whole family. She noted that admission is free because the company wanted to show their appreciation for the people of Dunn County.

"We do a nice dinner with it. We have pulled pork and brisket. We actually did the Bakken BBQ last year and won the cook-off. So we're doing the same burnt ends and grilled pineapple this year... with all the sides, obviously," Dennison said. "Then we have the bounce houses and a mechanical bull for the kids."

She's hoping for pleasant skies so they can have the children's attractions outdoors.

"Last year it was really windy so we were all crammed into the gym," she said, adding that rain or shine, good times will be had by all. "It's just fun. We always do it near the end of the school year before people get busy with summer. It's just a nice, give back to the community event."

Four area students will be surprised with $500 scholarships.

"The kids don't actually even know they're getting one and they'll receive those at the barbecue. All the families are going to attend," she said.

There will be plenty of opportunities for adults and children to win door prizes to boost their summer fun in the sun. These will include kayaks, coolers, fishing poles, cornhole sets and more. Prizes are sponsored by Hunt Oil and First International Bank.
