Bella Hadid channeled a memorable film during her time in Cannes, France, this week.
In town for the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, the model took to Instagram to show off one of her outfits of the day on Wednesday as she posed in front of a scenic backdrop. The ensemble gave a nod to Alicia Silverstone’s character Cher from “Clueless” and her most recognizable outfit — a checkered matching skirt set.

Hadid’s own take on the ensemble included a coordinating dress shirt and pink checkered miniskirt, matched to a retro-chic choice of footwear.
Her thong-toe heels tapped into this summer’s biggest shoe trend and came set atop a mid-height heel with an almond-toe front.
Thong-toe footwear returned to the celebrity scene last year as one of spring and summer’s biggest trends and is expected to stick around in 2021. Be it classic flip-flops or thong-toe heels, the minimalistic silhouette falls in line with a ’90s-inspired revitalization of fashion, as seen with shoes like square-toe styles and pops of neon color. Stars like Kate Hudson along with Meryl Streep, Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez amongst other major names are continuing to support the trend in even cooler temperatures.
As for Bella Hadid herself, when she wasn’t breaking out trending footwear, the model spent her time in Cannes attending a myriad of red carpet events. Last night, for example, the 24-year-old attended the Chopard party in glam attire, opting for a feather-coated minidress and chain-link pumps.

When it comes to everyday fashion, the younger Hadid sister opts for shoes from Givenchy along with Prada, Solomon, Zara, Dr. Martens, New Balance and more, returning to a grungier footwear feel almost every time. For red carpet events and fancier get-togethers, the model oftentimes steps out in designs courtesy of Dior, Alexander Wang and Tom Ford amongst others.
Her modeling career has made her the face of campaigns for Jacquemus, Chanel and Helmut Lang in the past few seasons alone; she previously walked the runway for every name in the book, too, from Marc Jacobs to Miu Miu and Burberry.
