Bella Thorne Says Polyamory and Pot Are the Keys to Happiness

From Men's Health

The secret to a happy life? An open relationship and lots of weed. So sayeth Bella Thorne, at least. In an illuminating interview with Cosmopolitan, the actress spoke candidly about being pansexual and polyamorous, and how dating multiple people can be a life-changing experience — while also acknowledging that it's not for everybody.

"You’re either down or you're not down and I totally understand if you're not down," she said. "A lot of people are actually down and it totally changes their mind. At first they're like, gasp, how do you even do that And then we talk it through and they're like, 'Wow, that actually sounds kind of beautiful.'"

Open relationships may still be something of a social taboo, but the way Thorne sees it, they're all about having fun... as long as everybody gets along and is clear about what's happening.

"Obviously, dating two people at once is a little difficult," she said. "If you're gonna date a guy and a girl at the same time, those people have to really fuck with each other. Or literally fuck with each other. You know what I'm saying? It's like, it really depends on finding the right mesh of two people. If it works, you can spend a weekend with two people and you're all hanging out and having fun and smoking, and like, sharing stories up late at night. Kind of having fun acting like children in that way. It's a really fun experience and I have been able to capture that a couple times, and I just love that idea. I love loving two people at once. I love sharing stories with three people in one room. So, I'm always trying to find ways to make it work because I think it really would make me happy."

Breaking stigmas is kind of Thorne's deal at this point. In the same interview, she explained that smoking marijuana had a hugely positive impact on her own mental health and wellbeing, leading to her collaborating with the cannabis company Glass House on her own collection, the aptly named Forbidden Flowers.

"It's helped me so much with anxiety and depression," she said. "I think if you are looking to change your life, and you're dealing with anxiety and depression, and you're trying all these different things and they're not working and you aren't happy... why not try marijuana? I mean, why not try it? You might as well, and I think obviously with the stigma, it's just going to get easier over time."
