Belly dancing to singing waiters: Myrtle Beach area restaurants offer a dinner and show
There’s no shortage of great restaurants in the Myrtle Beach area. Just type “dinner recommendations” into Google and you’ll receive pages of results for where to eat.
But if you’re looking for a food experience with a show to go along with your dinner, here are eight places that offer just that.
Jerusalem Mediterranean Restaurant & Bar
This Myrtle Beach restaurant will make you feel like you are in another country. Its menu offers cuisines from such countries as Greece, Morocco, Turkey, Egypt and Israel, and boasts beautiful decor that includes Turkish globes and custom-made seating and tables.
The restaurant also adds to the dining experience by offering belly dancing while you eat.
The belly dance show takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturdays, according to manager Jessica Rednic.
There are two dancers who each perform the complimentary dinner show on different nights, Rednic said. The dancers often change outfits during the two-hour show and will get diners to dance with them.
“People love it. It’s something the family can enjoy,” Rednic said. “(It’s) very cultured.”
Simply Southern Smokehouse
This Myrtle Beach restaurant has a special ingredient to accompany its BBQ and country buffet, and his name is Stacey.
Stacey Ahmad Alderman is known as the singing waiter and can often be heard breaking into song while he is serving customers or clearing off tables.
The restaurant is currently closed for cleaning and maintenance, but will reopen on Jan. 30, according to its Facebook page.
Medieval Times
Take a trip back to the time of castles, queens and jousting knights with this dinner experience inspired by an 11th-century feast and tournament.
Guests are served a four-course banquet as they watch knights compete in a joust.
The dinner show also includes performances with horses led by equine entertainers and falcons.
Pirates Voyage
This dinner show pays tribute to the history of the Grand Strand, which has stories of pirates who came ashore on its coasts.
Guests can watch pirates battle on land and in water on the deck of ships that are located in a 15-foot deep indoor lagoon, while dining on a four-course meal.
Entertainers perform high-diving stunts, acrobatics and sword fights. In addition, there also are mermaids, tropical birds and sea lions.
Polynesian Fire
This live music and luau dinner show features a family of American Samoans who have learned the art of Samoan fire knife dancing.
The outdoor show, held at the St. John’s Inn in Myrtle Beach, was opened in Myrtle Beach by Jason Wright, who got the idea after attending a similar one in Hawaii.
Riga Tony’s Murder Mystery Dinner Show
With the tagline “come for the show, but stay for the murder,” Riga Tony’s Murder Mystery Dinner Show provides a performance to die for, according to its website.
Participants are offered a whodunit experience with a 1930s mobster theme and an Italian dinner. Actors are dressed according to the period.
During the show, diners are challenged to figure out the murder mystery.
Miyabi Japanese Steak and Seafood
With locations in Myrtle Beach and Murrells Inlet, chefs here have made preparing food an entertainment art form.
Food is prepared hibachi style, which has diners sitting around a large grill while they watch the chefs cook the food. The chefs often do acrobatic stunts with the food, and there may be an “egg” roll or two.
Dick’s Last Resort
If you love sarcasm, or at least a little humiliation with your food, then Dick’s is the place for you. Be warned, however, it’s not a place for those who lack a sense of humor.
Located in Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach, the restaurant’s staff throws witty, sarcastic banter at its customers that is all in good fun, while serving the food – most that arrive in buckets.
