Belmar Declares Emergency Parking Rules In Coronavirus Outbreak

BELMAR – Belmar has issued an emergency parking declaration as the community continues to be impacted by the coronavirus crisis.

Mayor Mark Walsifer has signed an "Emergency Parking Declaration" for “Resident Parking Only” for specific designated areas within Belmar.

Some, however, questioned how the order can be enforced when it may only be effective in a tiny southeast corner of the town. Mikee Grogan sent a picture to Patch suggesting that perhaps the order isn't as effective as it should be:

This Emergency Parking Declaration will exist until Gov. Phi Murphy rescinds the statewide stay-at-home order in the coronavirus outbreak, local officials said.

After consultation with Belmar Police Chief Tina Scott and the coordinators of the Belmar Office of Emergency Management, the following Emergency Parking Plan was implemented:

  • 16th Avenue South to North Boulevard including B Street, Snyder Avenue, A Street, Surf Avenue, 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th Avenues will be posted for Belmar Resident Parking Only.
  • The Emergency Parking Restrictions will be closely monitored and adjusted accordingly as dictated by circumstances.
