Belmont's Dave Jarvis was named the Ohio Valley Conference baseball coach of the year Tuesday, and the Bruins' Guy Lipscomb was named player of the year and Andy Bean pitcher of the year.

Belmont (37-19, 18-6), which is leaving the OVC after the season to join the Missouri Valley Conference, won the regular season title and earned a No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.

The 37 wins tied for the most in Belmont's history (2013), and included Jarvis' 1,000th career victory as a coach on Feb. 23 against Middle Tennessee State and his 700th win at Belmont on April 23 against Evansville.

Jarvis is in his 25th season as Belmont's coach and one of just 16 active head coaches with 700 or more wins at their current school.

Lipscomb, a Franklin native, hit .400 and stole 40 bases and became the first NCAA Division I player to accomplish that feat since 2011 (Stephen F. Austin's Bryson Myles).

His 40 stolen bases are the most by an OVC player since 2003, when Eastern Kentucky's Josh Anderson set the OVC record with 57 steals.

Among OVC players he was first in batting average, stolen bases, on-base percentage, third in hits, seventh in runs scored and eighth in triples.

Bean made 14 starts and finished the year with a 9-1 record and 4.00 ERA in 83.1 innings of work. The lefty struck out 84 and held opponents to a .215 batting average.

Belmont earned a double-bye in the OVC tournament at Wild Health Field in Lexington, Kentucky. The Bruins' first game is Thursday at 10 a.m. They meet the Game 3 winner. Eastern Illinois faces the SIUE-Austin Peay winner in Game 3.
