This beloved Fairhaven restaurant ranks among the best steakhouses in the Pacific Northwest

A long-time Fairhaven restaurant has been recognized for serving some of the best steaks in the Pacific Northwest.

A recent article by Only in Your State, a travel website, ranked the best steaks in the Pacific Northwest, naming only seven restaurants as the top contestants. All seven restaurants were found in Washington state.

“These seven restaurants won’t waste your time, your money, or the appetite you’ve saved. For the best steak in Washington, plan a visit to one of these favorites, and you’ll be sure to discover a new favorite yourself,” Andrea Verschuyl, a travel writer for the website wrote.

Dirty Dan Harris Steakhouse in Bellingham was listed among the top seven restaurants.

“At this veteran restaurant, steaks are just as good as you remember your Grandpa making them. Enjoy punchy flavors in a cozy environment at this nostalgic Bellingham favorite,” Verschuyl wrote.

Dirty Dan Harris Steakhouse has been open nearly 50 years. Its menu includes steakhouse classics such as steaks, prime rib, salads, ribs and potatoes. The restaurant also serves seafood, such as Dungeness crab stuffed mushrooms, crab cakes, grilled lobster mac and cheese, seafood pasta and salmon.

The restaurant was named after Daniel Jefferson Harris, “a harpooner, a pioneer, a trader, a rum-runner, a trail packer, a sailor, a land speculator, and a developer in his heyday,” in Bellingham, according to the restaurant’s website.

The steakhouse was also recently listed for sale after its owner opened a ramen restaurant in 2022, according to previous reporting by The Bellingham Herald.

The other six top restaurants can be found in Port Townsend, Vancouver, Tacoma, Renton, Spokane and Seattle.

Dirty Dan Steakhouse is open from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday at 1211 11th in Bellingham.
