A beloved parade, fireworks and art show highlight events in Brunswick County this week

NC 4th of July Festival in Southport

The NC 4th of July Festival Parade kicks off at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 4 with a flag raising ceremony, held at the corner of Moore and Howe streets. The parade follows beginning at 11 a.m. Fireworks are scheduled for 9 p.m. at Southport Waterfront Park, 146-176 E. Bay St. The North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport, located at 204 E. Moore St., will be open following the parade.

Calabash Summer Concert Series

The Embers featuring Craig Woolard will play beach music from 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 4 at the Calabash Town Park, 868 Persimmon Road. Hot dogs, kettle corns and treats available. Bring a blanket or a lawn chair. Free. 910-579-6747.

Ocean Isle Beach fireworks

The town of Ocean Isle Beach's fireworks spectacular begins at 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 4 and will be launched from the Ocean Isle Beach Pier.

Sunset Beach Sound Waves concert series

Too Much Sylvia will play beach, funky '70s, Motown and '80s music 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 5 at Sunset Beach Sound Waves concert series to be held at the Village Park gazebo, 1791 Queen Anne St. Free.

Oak Island concert series

The Oak Island "Bands by the Beach" concert series will have Chocolate Chip & Co. playing soul, R&B, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, July 7 at the Middleton Park Amphitheater, 102 SE 47th St. Free.

Ocean Isle Beach Summer Concert

The Ocean Isle Beach Summer Concert, also known as the Peggy Hughes Concert Series, will feature the The Main Event Band, who plays R&B, soul, beach, country, funk, from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday, July 7 at Town Center Park, 11 E. Second St. Free.

Smith Island Art League will hold its art show and sale July 8-9 in Bald Head Island.

The Smith Island Art League will hold a member’s show and sale, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. July 8-9 at the Bald Head Island Association Center, 111 Lighthouse Wynd. The show is open to the public with free admission. The Art League members will show variety of styles and mediums such as ceramics, oil and watercolor paintings, cards, jewelry, fabric art, photography and more.

Holden Beach Concert Series
