Bemidji High School yearbook program recognized with award of excellence

Oct. 13—BEMIDJI — Bemidji High School's

yearbook program was recently awarded a 2023 National Yearbook Program of Excellence award by memorabilia manufacturer Jostens.

According to a release, the National Yearbook Program of Excellence recognizes engaging yearbooks that reflect a broad representation of the student body while helping students develop 21st-century skills such as communication, collaboration and information and communication technologies literacy.

The awards are presented twice a year — spring and fall — based on the yearbook's arrival date at the school.

The award was presented to the BHS yearbook program for achieving defined criteria in at least one of the following categories: creating an inclusive yearbook, generating school engagement and successfully managing the yearbook creation process. BHS' program was led by editor-in-chief Erin Myhrer under the direction of yearbook advisor Jessica Kemp.

"Myhrer was an incredible editor-in-chief and I am very proud of her. She was punctual, kind, responsible and completely took ownership of our project," Kemp said in the release. "Managing a project of this size as a senior in high school is an incredible achievement, and she has a very bright future ahead of her."
