Ben Affleck fans believe they have uncovered a private Instagram account belonging to the actor.

The account uses the handle @positiveattitudehunting and has just 35 posts.

The name of the account is thought to be a reference to the title of Affleck’s Oscar-winning film, Good Will Hunting.

The account follows only 14 other people and boasts just three followers, which is significantly less than the 4.3 million people who follow Affleck’s official Instagram account.

The name attached to the account is just “Ben” and the bio reads: “just a dad who sometimes makes movies”.

Additionally, the bio provides a link to easterncongo.org, a non-profit that Affleck founded.

According to the Eastern Congo Initiative’s (ECI) website, the organisation is “an advocacy and grant-making initiative wholly focused on working with and for the people of eastern Congo”.

The description continues: “We envision an eastern Congo vibrant with abundant opportunities for economic and social development, where a robust civil society can flourish. ECI believes that local, community-based approaches are essential to creating a sustainable and successful society in eastern Congo.”

The account came to light after one Affleck fan, Kelsey Weekman, tweeted about it on Thursday.

“I found Ben Affleck’s finsta,” she wrote alongside a screengrab of the account, which reveals the profile photo that appears to be of Affleck and his girlfriend, the actor Ana de Armas.

The term “finsta” is used to refer to a second Instagram account that users maintain alongside a primary account, but the content is usually quite different.

Ms Weekman’s tweet has garnered more than 10,000 likes and 518 retweets, with hundreds of Affleck’s fans praising her for uncovering the account.

“Hello @PulitzerPrizes are you seeing this please consider this an early entry for best investigative journalism, thank you,” one person teased.

Explaining her methods, Ms Weekman explained that she was looking to see if Affleck and de Armas follow one another on Instagram.

“I was checking to see if he and Ana de Armas follow each other on Instagram and I found a suspicious account she’s following under the name ‘Ben’ and there’s just... no way this isn’t him,” she tweeted.

One of the account's other followers is the actor Jennifer Garner, whom Affleck was married to for 10 years. The couple have three children together.

Affleck has not yet commented on Ms Weekman’s claims.
