Incumbent Ben Cline looks to be going back to the U.S. House of Representatives as the representative of Virginia's 6th District.

The Republican beat Democrat challenger Nicholas Betts, according to the Associated Press.

Cline has run on anti-tax platforms and has been an ardent supporter of gun rights and Donald Trump.

Here's how the Washington Post describes Cline's first term:

"Cline has embraced fiscal conservatism while focusing on infrastructure, including the expansion of broadband access and federal funding to improve the Interstate 81 corridor without raising taxes. He voted against the Democrats’ $1.5 trillion infrastructure package."

At a recent debate, WVTF reported on the candidate's positions:

Cline emphasized repairing the economic damage caused by coronavirus. "We’re going to do that by targeting the focus, the help the government can provide," Cline said. "The Cares Act did that through the Paycheck Protection Program, providing assistance to small businesses, making sure they kept people on the employment rolls." Cline also said the production and distribution of coronavirus vaccines will be a focus of the next Congress.
