Rugby player and X Factor: Celebrity star Ben Foden has said he hopes ex-wife and Saturdays star Una Healy will forgive him for cheating on her.

Foden and Healy split in and filed for divorce in 2018 after revelations he had been cheating. When the paperwork was finalised in August of this year, Foden shocked everyone by marrying American entrepreneur Jackie Belanoff Smith just two days later. But the scrum half now hopes ex Healy, who is the mother of his two children, will forgive him.

He told the Sun’s Laura Armstrong: “I hope Una will forgive me. I made the biggest mistake and the most stupid mistake you can make in a relationship.

“We seemed like a perfect match but people never know what happens behind closed doors. I think it’s safe to say that Una and I were struggling for a number of years.

“Me doing what I did was the final nail in the coffin.”

Despite remarrying so quickly after their divorce, Foden claimed to have had Healy’s blessing before tying the knot.

At the time the 34-year-old took to social media to say: “ I met a girl who seriously swept me off my feet and in a time of hardship showed me love, a deep devoted love.

“People will say we are mad or crazy or even fools, as @snackyjax and I had only been dating seriously for a little over 2 weeks before deciding to get married. But when someone like her comes into your life, why would I wait?”
