Boise

Penelope Constantikes with Riley Planning Services LLC has filed a request for permit for the design of 30 townhouses on platted lots at 2801 W. Palouse St., south of W. Overland Road and west of S. Vista Ave.

The Crue James Subdivision project would consist of five structures with a total of 30 units, according to the application.

Andrew Ronald Wheeler with The Land Architect LLC has filed a request for permit for two-bedroom unit conversions at Monterra Townhomes, 3960 S. Federal Way, south of E. Bergeson Street.

The project would convert existing two-bedroom apartments into three bedrooms by converting the den space into a bedroom. A total of 82 units would be converted, according to the application.

A North End pho restaurant plans to sell beer and wine.

PHO Real, at 812 W. Fort Street, applied to the Boise City Council for a waiver to allow it to sell alcohol. The restaurant is within 300 feet of St. John’s Catholic Cathedral and St. Joseph Catholic School. Generally, alcohol cannot be sold that close to such establishments.

According to a Boise city memo, PHO Real’s owner has gotten support from the church and the school to grant the exception and allow the sales.

The City Council granted the waiver on Tuesday.

Meridian

Trevor Gasser, a developer with Utah-based TGI Real Estate Corp., wants to build a drive-thru soda shop along Chinden Boulevard.

The soda shop, called SWIG, which has a location in St. George, Utah, would be located on a half-acre site at 3471 W. Chinden Boulevard. It would operate only as a drive thru with no indoor or outdoor seating, the application said.

SWIG would be located in a one-story, 665-square-foot building. It would operate Monday-Thursday from 7 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., Fridays from 7 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.

The Meridian City Council is scheduled to hear the proposal at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, at City Hall.

Costa Vida, a Utah-based chain of fast-casual Mexican restaurants, wants to open a new location in Meridian.

The 8,815-square-foot space is planned at 413 S. Innovation Lane and would include a drive-thru, according to an application filed by Cushing Terrell.

The Meridian Planning and Zoning Commission has scheduled a hearing on the proposal for 6 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, at City Hall.

Life Flight Network leased 10,282 square feet of office space at 1550 S. Tech Lane, according to Colliers.

Life Flight is the largest nonprofit air medical transport service in the country.

A new residential community is planned south of Harris Street along Idaho Highway 69.

The Stapleton Subdivision would include 53 homes on about 7.5 acres at 4235 S. Meridian Road, according to an application filed with the city. The development is close to Roaring Springs.

Nampa

Utz Quality Foods leased 22,773 square feet of industrial space at 16677 Madison Road, according to Colliers.

The Pennsylvania-based company produces a variety of chips, pretzels and other snack items, according to its website. Its product brands include Bachman, Zapp’s, Dirty, Golden Flake, Good Health, Snikiddy, Boulder Canyon and TGI Fridays Snacks.

Eagle

A new pedestrian and bike bridge along Eagle Road is slated to open to the public.

The bridge is designed to provide a dedicated crossing for cyclists and people walking across the north channel of the Boise River on the west side of Eagle Road and Idaho Highway 55, according to a news release from the city of Eagle.

The city is holding a ribbon-cutting ceremony at noon Friday at the bridge’s south landing. The bridge will open to the public immediately after the event.

The $3.2 million project was under construction for eight months.

It was completed a year ahead of schedule thanks to state and federal funding applications, the news release said. The city originally designated $1.9 million in local funding for the project, but will now only pay $190,000.

Around Idaho

Elevate Academy, a network of charter schools with locations in Caldwell, Nampa and Post Falls, plans to expand in Idaho Falls.

The academy purchased land next to Lincoln Alternative High School with plans to develop it, according to a news release from TOK Commercial.

A groundbreaking ceremony is set for 4 p.m. June 8 at 1873 N. Walton Ave. in Idaho Falls.

Elevate Academy focuses on trade skills and career development in areas such as welding, manufacturing and construction, the news release said. Its schools operate year-round.
