Benedict Cumberbatch is an actor: a proper one, in which the second syllable is given its own dedicated long drawn out sound. But now, instead of settling for the typical British thesp threads and floppy hair, Doctor Strange has had a change of pace.

At the Avengers: Endgame world premiere in LA, the 42-year-old has never looked better. What's more, the polish up doesn't rely on flashy trends better-suited to the VMAs: this was grown-up stuff, classic stuff, the stuff that will look just as good now as it will in 10 years' time.

There's the low-maintenance buzzcut (an increasingly en vogue move): it's simple, and yet different to the Shakespearean curls of his compatriots.

We've seen a suit, elevated, switching black for blue and playing on bigger shoulders with some lapels on steroids. And lest we forget the enduring sunglasses of Tinseltown royalty - the Wayfarer.

It's proof that our cousins pondside aren't the sole kings of the premiere. Our homegrown talent, including Cumberbatch, can bring cool to the red carpet, too - just in a quieter way. And it's something every man can take advantage of below:
