Benedict Cumberbatch has suggested he'd be up for a feature-length Sherlock revival.

The BBC One series – co-created by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffatt – launched Cumberbatch into 'household name' territory thanks to his mesmerising performance as the "high-functioning sociopath" and detective Sherlock Holmes.

But four years on from his last case, are there any plans for a Sherlock return?

"I'm the worst person to ask on this because I never say never, obviously," the actor recently told Collider.

"But I don't know. And I'm the worst person to ask because my slate's pretty, pretty full at the moment, as is Martin [Freeman, who played John Watson] and all the other key players involved.

"So, who knows? Maybe one day, if the script's right. And I say 'the script,' maybe it could be a film rather than the series. Who knows? But anyway, not for now."

The return of Sherlock has been a burning question in fans' minds for years, and back in 2019, Moriarty star Andrew Scott also weighed in on it.

"For me, the door is never fully closed. It's closed at the moment, but that doesn't mean it can't be opened at some point in the future. But it's definitely not something that's on the agenda in the foreseeable future," he explained.

Could Gatiss and Moffatt be swayed by the big screen?
