Benedict Wong and Callina Liang will star in the English-language remake of the hit Thai film "Bad Genius."

"Bad Genius," which is known in Thailand as "Chalard Games Goeng," is a heist thriller film directed by Nattawut Poonpiriya. It was released in 2017 and became Thailand's highest-grossing film of the year.

According to its synopsis, the English-language remake will be "a high-stakes, high-octane thriller about a diverse group of young people who team up to fight the system of injustice and inequity and take down the rigged academic institutions around them."

Details about Wong ("Doctor Strange," "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings”) and Liang’s (“Tell Me Everything”) roles have yet to be announced.

J.C. Lee, who has worked on films and TV series such as "Luce" and "How to Get Away with Murder," will direct the film and co-write its script with Julius Onah.

"I am so excited to share a new take on what was already a wildly successful and remarkable film," Lee said in a statement. "I can’t wait to work with this fantastic, innovative group of artists, drawing on our diverse array of real world experiences to make a film as thrilling and fun as the original.

Shooting for the film is expected to begin in May.
