Benefit food events return to New Rochelle, White Plains after a three-year hiatus

Two food events, both of which involve samplings from top chefs across Westchester County and support non-profit organizations, are back after a three-year in-person hiatus due to the pandemic. Coincidentally, they are one day apart. Here's what you need to know:

April 19: A Matter of Taste, New Rochelle

Chef tastings are the hallmark of this event, hosted by The Arc Westchester Foundation that supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Held at the Glen Island Harbour Club from 6 to 9 p.m., guests can expect signature tastings prepared by chefs from restaurants across Westchester. Some of the participants include: Scarsdale's 808 Bistro; New Rochelle's North Street Tavern; The Rye Roadhouse; Sam's of Gedney Way in White Plains; Zuppa in White Plains; Eastchester Fish Gourmet in Eastchester; Rivermarket Bar & Kitchen in Tarrytown; Larchmont's Heritage 147 and Chutney Masala, Sambal and Mima, all of which are in Irvington.

Beverages will be provided by Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits, Toma Artisanal Bloody Mary and Captain Lawrence with featured desserts from Glen Island Harbour Club and Zaro's Family Bakery. Individual tickets are $225; details at donate.arcwestchester.org/event/a-matter-of-taste-2023/

April 20: An Evening in Good Taste, White Plains

Expect more than 22 chefs offering everything from fresh-shucked oysters to duck liver cannolis to peach and salted caramel blondies at this benefit for Feeding Westchester, which provides nutritious meals to those in need.

This year’s event, which also features a variety of craft beers, wine and cocktails, takes place at Savor at The Westchester. This is a new location, as the event had been held for years at 1133 Westchester Ave. in White Plains.

“It’s been a long three years for us all, for both our neighbors in need and Westchester County restaurants," said Karen Erren, Feeding Westchester’s president and CEO. "An Evening in Good Taste is the perfect opportunity to recognize resilience and perseverance while raising funds for the fight against hunger in our beloved county.”

Details at FeedingWestchester.org/aeigt; tickets are $250 and up.
